1. Announcement :
Pensioners have to appear before the Pension Pay Officer/ Treasury Officer for mustering from 1st April to 30th June of every year on all Government working days. Pensioners who are unable to appear for mustering may produce Life Certificate in the format prescribed below.

As per the Treasury Rules, the pensioner drawing pension has to appear before the Pension Pay Officer, Chennai for mustering once in every year during April, May and June on all working days. Pensioners are required to bring Pension Payment Order, Bank Pass Book, one Passport size Photograph and PAN Card. Family pensioners have to produce non-remarriage certificate.
If the pensioners are unable to appear for mustering, they may obtain Life Certificate in the prescribed format from any one of the following officials and furnish it to the Pension Pay Office, Chennai-6:
- Bank Branch Manager where the Pensioner’s Account is maintained
- Gazetted Officers of the State or Central Government
- Tahsildar / Deputy Tahsildar / Revenue Inspector
The form for the Life Certificate and non-remarriage certificate may be downloaded from www.tn.gov.in/karuvoolam/.Pensioners have to furnish copies of first page of Pension Payment Order, one passport size photograph and Bank Pass Book along with the Life Certificate. Family pensioners have to send non re-marriage certificate. Pensioners staying abroad have to furnish Life Certificate signed by a Magistrate, a Notary, a Banker or a diplomatic representative of India to the Pension Pay Officer, Chennai-6. Pensioners liable for Income-Tax are required to send tentative Income Tax statement for the financial year to the Pension Pay Officer. As the Pension payment is automated, pensioners are requested to furnish their present residential address/ Telephone No / Mobile number, e-mail ID and PAN Card number for filing income tax returns and sending alert messages on pension payment.
If the pensioners fail to appear for annual mustering or to furnish Life Certificate during April, May and June the payment of pension shall be stopped from the month of August.
Note: Annual mustering for the pensioners drawing pension under Public Sector Banks Scheme is being carried out in the respective banks during November and December. Hence such pensioners are requested not to approach the Pension Pay Office for Annual mustering which is, presently underway with effect from 1.4.2016.
