Sriperumpudur Town  Panchayat (Kancheepuram District)

 

The Religious centers of Sri Athikesava Perumal Kovil and Sri Ramanujar Birth Place are located in the Town of Sriperumpudur.

 

Former Prime Minister of India Sri Rajivi Gandhi was assassinated here on 21st May 1991 while participating an Election Campaign.  This day is  observed as Anti Terrorism Day.  At the place of his assassination a memorial was constructed in  an area of 12.5 Acres and it contains 7 pillars, each having the names of rivers which are Ganga, Yumuna, Godavari, Brahmaputra, Sindhu, Kaveri and Narmadha.
