A standard size of a house was taken to be 200 sq. ft. in Andhra Pradesh, 250 sq. ft. in Tamil Nadu, 430 sq. ft. in Kerala and 300 sq. ft. in Pondicherry. The estimate includes housing related infrastructure such as water connections, sanitation and internal roads.
