Support Scheme |
Under this scheme, 63 Trauma Care cum Recreation Centers have been
taken up in Villuppuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Kanniyakumari
Districts at a total cost of Rs.1.90 crore and Rs.9.40 crore was
sanctioned for the supply of first aid boxes. |

Waiver of Loan to
Fishermen |
A
sum of Rs.19.56 crore obtained has loan by 5635 fishermen from
Fishermen Cooperative Society has been waived. Besides the Office
of the Honourable Prime Minister has also released an additional sum
of Rs.3.36 crore towards waiver of principal to the loan. |

Supply of First Aid
Boxes |
47000 nos of first aid boxes were procured through Tamil Nadu
Medical Services Corporation and distributed to the fishermen at a
cost of Rs. 9.40 crore. Sport materials were distributed to 591
fishermen villages at a cost of Rs.0.591 crore |

Scholarship Scheme
|
The children who are studying in Class I to X and whose families
were affected by tsunami are assisted with a sum of Rs. 300/- per
month to defray their school going expenses. During the year
2008-2009, the number of students benefited by this scheme is
1,23,697 and 97424 students benefitted in the year 2009-2010. |

Universal Health
Insurance Scheme

A
sum of Rs.7.77 crore was released towards Health Insurance covering
1,55,414 families affected by tsunami for the year 2006-2007. (with
a contribution of Rs.500/- from PMNRF and Rs.300/- from GoI as
premium per family). A sum of Rs.7.79 crore was released for the
year 2007-2008 for the benefit of 155907 families, Rs.6.25 crore was
released for the year 2008-2009 for the benefit of 125072 families.

In order to monitor the above works by the Implementing Departments a
separate wing of Project Management Unit was created in the Revenue
Administration, Disaster Management and Mitigation in the year 2005 with
adequate staff / consultants.
