The Pandiyan Roadways Corporation Limited was bifurcated and a new Corporation by name Veeran Sundaralingam Transport Corporation was formed on 1.5.97 with headquarters at Virudhunagar. At the time of formation, it had a fleet strength of 352 vehicles. The Corporation was renamed as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, (Madurai Division-V) Ltd, Virudhunagar 0n 01.07.97. The principal area of operation is the entire Virudhunagar district and its fleet strength as on 31.03.2003 was 359. During the year 2002-2003, 28 buses have been purchased for replacement.
