The Dheeran Chinnamalai Transport Corporation Limited formed out of Cholan Roadways Corporation Limited was registered on 01.01.1985 and it commenced operations on 01.04.1985 with a fleet strength of 404 vehicles, with Tiruchirapalli as  headquarters.  The operational jurisdiction of this Corporation is Tiruchirapalli, Karur & Perambalur Districts.  The Corporation was renamed as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam (Division-II) Ltd Tiruchirapalli on 01.07.97. The fleet strength as on 31.03.2003 was 949. During the year 2002-2003, 85 buses have been purchased for replacement.
