The Union Planning Commission convened the  Third Steering Committee on Agricultural and Allied Sector for the preparation of the Twelfth Five Year Plan in Chennai on 17-18th August 2011.

Prof.Abhijit Sen, Hon’ble Member, Planning Commission GOI chaired the meeting.  Dr.V.V.Sadamate, Advisor, Agriculture, Planning Commission, GOI participated in the meeting. Experts in the field from all over the country who are members of the Steering Committee participated in the meeting, The two day meeting deliberated the various issues relating to Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairying, Fisheries and related sectors.

Initially, Thiru.K.Dhanavel, IAS., Member-Secretary, State Planning Commission welcomed the delegates. Tmt.Santha Sheela Nair, IAS (Rtd), Vice-Chairman, State Planning Commission,Chennai delivered the inaugural address. The State Planning Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu made the arrangements to organize the meeting at Chennai.
