Land Use Division

 

 The Sectors dealt by the Division are

  1. Forests and Wild Life
  2. Ecology and Environment
  3. Water Supply and Sanitation
  4. Housing and Urban Development

 Activities Undertaken by the Division:

  1. Preparation of Five-Year PlansAt present preparation of Twelfth Five Year Plan is taken up
  2. Preparation of Annual Plans-Both Part-I and Part-II Schemes.
  3. Scrutinizing the Part-I Proposals received from the Departments, writing sectoral profiles.
  4. Preparing Appraisal notes for the Part-II discussions, preparing the Minutes of the Part-II Discussions.
  5. Preparation of Mid-Term Appraisal of Five-Year Plans.
  6. Conduct of Workshops/ Training Programmes.
  7. Preparation of Compendium of Major Schemes including Externally Aided Projects, Centrally Sponsored Schemes and important State Government Schemes.
  8. Convening Meetings, Preparing Agenda/Base Paper, Preparing Minutes of the Meeting and follow-up action on the Minutes.
  9. Work entrusted by the Vice-Chairman, Member Secretary, Full Time- Member/Members then and there.

At present, the Steering committee and Working Groups for the Twelfth Five Year Plan have been constituted for the above sectors and the First Meeting of the Steering Committee has been organized.

TNSLURB:

In February 2011, the Government has constituted the Tamil Nadu State Land Use Research Board (TNSLURB), a permanent body under State Planning Commission under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chairmanship of SPC with a view to have formal interaction with various stakeholders and to arrive at various policy options. It is also proposed to conduct Seminars/ Workshops / Awareness Campaign and to commission Studies on sustainable management of Land and Water resources under the TNSLURB. The Land Use Division oversees the implementation of the programmes of TNSLURB. The First Meeting of TNSLURB is being organized.
