Division Activities

  • Preparation of Five Year Plan ; At present, the division is preparing the Approach Paper for the Twelfth Five Year Plan and Plan document
  • Preparation of Annual Plan(Part – I and Part II)
  • Conducting ‘Seminar, Workshop’ on various important issues and draw an action point on the proceedings of workshop and seminar.
  • Address issues to draw  policies  like:-
  • Land use policy for Tamil Nadu so as to arrest the diversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural purpose.
  • Issues achieving on self sufficiency in food grain production in Tamil Nadu.
  • Post Harvest Management Policy for Tamil Nadu.
  • Scope and measures for encouraging the Organic Agriculture.
  • Sustainable Agricultural / Horticulture Policy.
  • Agricultural Mechanisation and Hiring of agricultural implements including role of SHGs
  • Watershed management/ Water Resources Planning. - including Water Users Association.
  • Scope for improvement of Inland Fisheries.
  • Mission on Fodder development –bridging demand-supply gap.
  • Others identified then and there.
  • The division will update the data already prepared both for All India and State.  Further, data regarding agricultural and allied sector will be taken up.
  • Undertake  the following study by entrusting the work with research institutions:-
    • ‘Impact analysis of revamped agricultural extension system in Tamil Nadu
    • Evaluation study on Precision Farming and System of Rice Intensification.
    • ‘Evaluation of impact of micro irrigation in Tamil Nadu’.
    • ‘ improving the productivity of crop in dry land for achieving the food security’
  • Preparation of Compendium of  Major Schemes including EAP, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, few important State Schemes which has sizeable outlay.
  • The division will analyse the reports received from various research institution/ Evaluation and Applied Research Department and other department and various Committees.  The necessary follow up action will be taken up based on the analysis.
  • Convening meetings, preparing agenda/base paper/ minutes of meeting and take the follow up action
  • The Division will take up works given by the Vice-Chairman, Member-Secretary, Full Time Members and Members then and there.
