Tamilnadu Government have promulgated public Library Act in 1948, According to the act a committee named Local Library Authority, Coimbatore was constituted in August 1950. Thiru C.M.Rama Chandran Chettiar(Kovai kizhar) was elected as chairman of the committee

• MEMBERSHIP

Any person residing in the coimbatore and its immediately can become a member. A member can borrow a maximum of three books at a time by depositing Rs.50 for home reading and returnable with in 14 days. An Annual subscription of Rs.10 per member is collected for each financial year.
