Abstract Sports – Construction of Olympic Bhavan at New Delhi – Contribution of Rs.25.00 Lakhs by Government of Tamil Nadu – Sanctioned – Orders – Issued. Youth Welfare & Sports Development Department G.O. Ms. No. 2 Read : 1) From the President, Indian Olympic Association Letter No. 10A/TN/0B dated 23.1.2002. 2) From the Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu D.O. Letter No. 18446/ C4/97 dated 27.3.2002. ……. ORDER : The Government of Tamil Nadu have decided to contribute for the construction of Olympic Bhavan at New Delhi in its endeavour to encourage sports. 2. The President, Indian Olympic Association in his letter first read above has stated that Indian Olympic Association has started construction of Olympic Bhavan on the land allotted by Delhi Development Authority. He has stated that the six storeyed building on completion will have accommodation for Offices, Conference Halls, Library, Olympic Museum etc. He has requested the Government of Tamil Nadu to release Rs.50.00 lakhs for the construction of Indian Olympic Bhavan at New Delhi. 3. The Government after careful examination have decided to sanction Rs. 25,00,000/-(Rupees Twenty five Lakhs only) for the construction of Indian Olympic Bhavan at New Delhi. 4. Accordingly, sanction is accorded for the payment of a sum of Rs. 25,00,000/-(Rupees Twenty five Lakhs only) to the Indian Olympic Association towards Tamil Nadu Government’s contribution for the construction of Indian Olympic Bhavan at New Delhi. 5. The expenditure sanctioned in para 4 above should be debited to the following head of account : “2204 00 Sports and Youth Services- 104 Sports and Games- II State Plan JL. Grants to Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu 09 Grants-in-Aid – 09 Others.” (DPC No. 2204 00 104 JL 0992) 6. The expenditure sanctioned in para 4 above shall constitute an Item of New Service and the approval of the Legislature will be obtained in due course. Pending approval of the Legislature, the expenditure will be met by an advance from the Contingency Fund. Orders regarding this will be issued by the Government in Finance (BG.I) Department separately. The Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is requested to apply to the Government in Finance (BG.I) Department in the prescribed proforma along with this order for the sanction of an advance from the Contingency Fund and to send necessary draft explanatory notes for the inclusion of the above expenditure in the Supplementary Estimates 2002-2003 without fail. 7. The Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is requested to prepare the bill and present the same to the Pay and Accounts Officer, Secretariat, Chennai-9 through the Under Secretary to Government, Youth Welfare & Sports Development Department. The above sanctioned amount shall not be paid in cash but shall be credited into PD account of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Chennai-84 maintained by the Pay and Accounts Officer (North), Chennai-1 under the following head of account. “K Deposits and Advances (B) Deposits not bearing interest 8443 00 Civil Deposits – 800 Other Deposits – AE Deposits of Government Companies, Corporation, etc. 71 Deposits of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (DPC No. 8443 00 800 AE 710E) ”
He is requested to hand over a crossed cheque for Rs. 25.00 Lakhs to the President, Indian Olympic Association and intimate the fact to Government. 8.
