      Order:

      In G.O.Ms.No.1311, Home ( Transport) Department,, dated:13.7.1989, Government have issued orders among other things fixing the Ceiling limit on expenditure on petty and monor repairs without referring to Government Automobile Workshops by the vehicle owning officers of various local bodies, municipalities, Boards, Quasi-Government Departments and Autonomous Institutions, etc., under the Government of Tamil Nadu as below:-

      Light vehicle - Rs.500/-

      Heavy vehicles - Rs.800/-

      The frequency of such repairs shall not be more than once in a moth.

      2 In G.O.Ms.No.2503, Transport ,dated: 18.9.91, Government have revised the existing financial powers of the vehicle using officers to incur expenditure towards petty and minor repairs such as, servicing, battery charging, tyre retreading etc., within the overall ceiling fixed with reference to G.O.Ms,1311, Home Department, dated:13.7.89.

      3. The Director of Employment and Training , the Secretary, Tamilnadu Public service Commssion, the Director of Information& Public Relations, the Chairman , Tamil nadu Public Service Commiddion, the Director of Technical Education and the Director of Collegiate Education have requested the Government to enhance the existing financial powers of the vehicle using officers to incur expenditure on petty and minor repairs without referring to Government Automobile workshop.

      4. The Government examined the above request in consutation with the Director, Motor Vehicle Maintenance Department had suggested that the powers vested with the vehicle using officers in G.O.Ms.No.2503, Transport, dated: 18.9.91 may be enhanced considering the present cost of repairs and inview of the general increase in the prices of the Autimobile Compponents and the labour charges. Accordingly,. he has sent the proposal to revise the existing financial powers to the Government.

      5. The Government after careful consideration accept the proposal of the Doirector, Motor Vehicle Maintenance Department and Direct that the existing financial powers of the vehicle using officers to incur expenditure towards petty and minor repairs such as, servicing, battery charging, tube vulcanisingÏ replacement of electrical items, etc., and tyre retreading without referring to Government Automobile Workshop within the overall ceiling fixed with reference to G.O.Ms.No.1311, Home, dated:13.7.1989 be enhanced as detailed below:-

      Classification LIght Vehicles Heavy vehicles

      2. Minor repairs

      i Battery Charging

      ii. Tube valcanising

      iii. Attending of electrical

      items such as Head light,

      tail light etc.,

      iv. Attending radiator leakage.

      v. Other Minor Repairs

      Like, breake defect,

      tightening of belt nuts,etc.,

      vi.Change of oil filter ,

      fan belt, etc, 1500.00 3150.00

      3. Tyre retreading. 900.00 2250.00

      6. Orders amending G.O.Ms.No.1311 Home Department Dt.13-7-1989. will be issued seperately by the Government in Home Department.

      7. The Director , Motor Vehicles Maintanance Department is directed to send necessary proposal to revise the annual ceiling fixed in G.O.Ms.No.1311 Home Department Dt.13-7-89 to the Government in due course.

      8.This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No.Finance 4393/FSP/99 dated 29.11.1999.
