GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL NADU Abstract TRAVEL CONCESSION - State Transport undertakings - 50% Fare Concession - Extension to the selected Drama Artists incuding technicians - Orders - Issued TRANSPORT(B1)DEPARTMENT

ORDER: While presiding over the 3000th Stage play celebration by 'Natakhapriya' on 26.9.1992, the Hon'ble Chief Minister has announced that the request for extending travel concession to the drama troupes will be considered by the Government. 2. The Government, after careful consideration, have decided to extend 50% travel concession, while travelling in the buses of State Transport undertakings including Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation Limited for the purpose of staging dramas as a troupe to 50 drama troupes, with a maximum number of 2000 drama artistes including technicians (at the rate of not exceeding 40 artistes including technicans for each troupe) which will be identified and selected by the TamilNadu Eyal Esai Nataka Mandra 3. The Government accordingly direct that 50% concessional bus pass to travel in the buses of all State Transport undertakings including the buses of Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation Limited will be issued by the State Transport undertakings concerned (except Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation) under the jurisdiction of which the selected drama artistes/technician resides, on the basis of the certificate(authorisation) issued by the Secretary, TamilNadu Eyal Esai Nataka Mandram. The drama artiste/technician as a troups shall apply to the State Transport undertakings concerned in the form prescribed in the annexure to this order duly enclosing the orginal certificate (authorisation) issued by the Secretary, TamilNadu Eyal Esai Nataka Mandram for getting the concessional bus pass for the specific purpose of staging dramas only. The drama artistes/technicians as a troupe are permitted to reserve seats in advance in the buses of Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation by producing the concessiional bus pass issued to them. The bus passes should be renewed every year. 4. The Tamil Development and Culture Department shall issue necessary guidelines to the TamilNadu Eyal Esai Nataka Mandram for identifying and selecting 50 drama troupes consisting of not exceeding 2000 drama artistes including technicians, who shall be issued with concessional bus pass. The Secretary, TamilNadu Eyal Esai Nataka Mandram shall issue necessary certificates (not exceeding 2000 numbers) to the selected drama artistes/technicians so as to enable them to avail themselves as a troupe of the 50% travel concession. 5. The Government also direct that the loss of revenue to the State Transport undertakings on account of this concession will be reimbursed by the Tamil Development and Culture Department, in the financial year succeeding the year in which the concessions availed on claim by the State Transport undertakings on the basis of the number of concessional passes issued by each State Transport undertakings. The Tamil Development and Culture Department shall send necessary proposals for provision of Rs.5/- lakhs in their budget head of account in Budget Estimate 1993-94 for reimbursement which will be released to the State Transport undertakings concerned by the Under Secretary to Government, (Transport), Transport Department on the basis of the number of concessional passes, issued by each State Transport undertakings in the year 1992-93. The State Transport undertakings shall send the proposal to the Government in Transport(T)Department through the Secretary, Tamil Development and Culture Department after the financial year is over and before 15th June of the succeeding year. 6. The expenditure shall be debited to, under the head of account "2205-00 Art and Culture - 102 Promotion of Arts and Culture - I Non-Plan - AE.Reimbursement of Social cost on drama Artistes concessions in Bus fare - 11 subsidies (DPC 2205 00 102 AE 1102). 7. The Under Secretary to Government, Transport Department is the estimating reconciling and controlling Authority for the above head of account. 8. The Treasury Officer/Pay and Accounts Officer is requested to open the new above head of account. 9. This order issues with the concurrence of the Tamil Development and Culture and Finance Departments vide their U.O.Nos.75/Secy/TDC/92, dated 7.10.92 and 112359A/Edn/92-1 dated 8.10.1992 respectively.
