ORDER: On 28.3.90, the Chief Minister inter-alia announced in the Legislative Assembly that students upto Eighth standard would be issued with free bus passes to travel in all town buses of the State Transport undertakings to their educational institution and back and that 50% concession to travel in the town buses of the State Transport undertaking will be allowed to all other students of recognised institutions to travel from their residence to the institutions and back.
2. The Government accordingly direct that the students upto Eighth Standard in the schools recognised by the Director of School Education be issued free travel has passes to travel from their residence to schools and back in the town buses of the State Transport undertakings. The Managing Directors of the State Transport undertakings are requested to issue the passes valid for each academic year on receipt of necessary applications through the head of the school following the procedure being adopted in the issue of monthly concessional tickets to students. A specimen copy of the pass to be adopted is annexed to this order.
3.The Government also direct that the other students studying in the schools and those studying in Colleges and other instituions recognisied by the,
be allowed fifty per cent concessions in respect of the monthly concessional season tickets issued to them to travel in the town buses of the State Transport undertakings. The Managing Directors are requested to take action accordingly.
4. The expenditure towards the issue of students concessions ordered in paras 2 and 3 above will be reimbursed by Government to the State Transport undertakings concerned which incur loss. The Under Secretary, Transport will make necessary provisions in the Budget Estimate to meet this additional expenditure.
5. This order isisues with the concurrence of the Finance Department, vide its U.O.No.282/SS/90 dated 7.5.90.
