ORDER:

The Government of India provides financial assistance for the construction of buildings, improving the infrastructure facilities etc. in the Observation Homes, Juvenile/Special Homes under the scheme for Prevention and Control of Juvenile Social Maladjustment. The financial assistance for construction of buildings to a Juvenile Home (100 inmates) is Rs.12.50 lakhs. The Director of Social Defence has sent proposals to upgrade the facilities in the Government Juvenile Home for Girls by providing class rooms, and additional dormitories (1200 sq. ft. each), toilets and bathrooms (10) and construction of an office block (500 sq. ft). The total cost of upgradation of the Government Juvenile Home for Girls is worked out at Rs.25.30 lakhs. It is proposed to avail the financial assistance from the Government of India for upgrading the facilities. The total cost of the scheme is to be sanctioned by the State Government. The reimbursement of 50% would be obtained from Government of India separately.

2. The Government accept the proposals of the Director of Social Defence and accord sanction for the upgradation of facilities in the Government Girls Juvenile Home, Chennai-10 at an ultimate cost of Rs.25.30 lakhs. The expenditure during 2000-2001 should be restricted to Rs.10,12,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs and Twelve Thousand only).

3. As this is a Centrally Shared Scheme, 50% of the expenditure sanctioned in para 2 above would be obtained from Government of India separately.

4. The expenditure is debitable to, "4235-Capital Outlay on Social Security and Welfare-02-Social Welfare-106. Correctional Services-Schemes in the Ninth Five Year Plan-II State Plan - JU Buildings-16. Major Works". (D.P.Code No.4235-02-106-JU-1601).

5. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.33457/SW/2000, dated 3.5.2000.
