ORDER:-

The Government Juvenile/Special Homes are residential institutions providing care, custody and training to the children sent by the Juvenile Welfare Boards and Juvenile Courts. Executive and guarding staff in these institutions are provided with staff quarters, considering their nature of duties. In the Government Juvenile/Special Home, Chennai 5 staff quarters are in a very much dilapidated condition and require to be repaired. In the Government special Home, Chengalpattu 5 staff quarters require to be repaired. The Director of Social Defence, Chennai has therefore sent proposals for repairing the 10 staff quarters at a cost of Rs.10.00 lakhs during 2000-2001.

2. The Government have examined the proposal of the Director of Social Defence and accept the same. Sanction is accorded to an expenditure of Rs.10.00 lakhs (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) for carrying out repair works in the 10 staff quarters at Government Juvenile Home for Girls, Chennai and Government Special Home for Boys, Chengalpattu during the year 2000-2001.

3. The expenditure sanctioned in para 2 above is debitable to, "4235-Capital Outlay on Social Security and Welfare-02-Social Welfare-106. Correctional Services-Schemes in the Ninth Five Year Plan-II State Plan-JU Buildings-16. Major Works". (D.P.Code No.4235-02-106-JU-1601).

4. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.33456/SW/2000, dated 2.5.2000.
