ORDER:

The Government of Tamil Nadu is running 25 Government Orphanages under the control of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department throughout the State. These Orphanages were last supplied with furniture is 1984.

2) Due to long usage, the furniture have become worn out and could not be put into use. As classes upto V std are being conducted in the Orphanage itself supply of new furniture is very much essential for the conduct of class and convenient sitting of children. Therefore, the Commissioner of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme has proposed for the supply of new furniture to eleven Government Orphanages at a cost of Rs.6.20 lakhs under Part-II schemes for 2000-2001.

3) The proposal has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee and necessary provision has been made in the Budget Estimate for 2000-2001. The Government accordingly sanction a sum of Rs.6.20 lakhs (Rupees Six lakhs and twenty thousand only) under Part-II scheme for 2000-2001 towards the supply of new furniture to eleven Governemnt Orphanages at the rate of Rs.70,000/- per Orphanage at Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Virdhunagar, Manamadurai, Pudukottai, Tuticorin and at the rate of Rs.40,000/0 per Orphanage at Tikkanrodu, Vellore, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam and Athur at Salem.

4) The Commissioner of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 3 above for the said purpose.

5) The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above should be debited under

"2235 – Social Security and Welfare – 02 – Social Welfare – 104 – Welfare of aged, infirm and destitute – Schemes in the Ninth Five Year Plan- II – State Plan – KJ – Maintenace of Orphanages run by Government – 05 – Office Expenses – 02 – Other Contingencies" (DPC 2235 02 104 KJ 0521).

6) This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.47/DS(GV)/SW/2000 Dated 10-5-2000.
