ORDER:

The Government of Tamil Nadu is running at present 25 Government Orphanages with the sanctioned strength of 5500 children under the control of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department.

2) The children of the Orphanages are being provided with food, education, shelter, uniform etc. The Orphanages were supplied vessles in 1994. The vessels supplied long back have reached a stage of condemnation due to long and continuous usage. In order to give better service tlo orphan children, supply of new vessels is needed. The Commissioner of Social Welfare has, therefore, submitted a proposal for consideration under Part-II Scheme for 2000-2001 for the sanction of a sum of Rs.2.00 lakhs (Rupees Two lakhs only) for the supply of new vessels to 14 Government Orphanages.

3) The proposal has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee and necessary provision has been made in the Budget Estimate for 2000-2001. Accordingly the Government sanction a sum of Rs.2.00 lakhs for the purchase of new vessels to the 14 Government Orphanages under Part-II Scheme for the year 2000-2001.

4) The Commissioner of Social Welfare is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 3 above for the said purpose. He is also requested to ensure that the expenditure should not exceed the amount sanctioned above.

5) The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above should be debited under

"2235 – Social Security and Welfare – 02 – Social Welfare – 104 – Welfare of aged, infirm and destitute – Schemes in the Ninth Five Year Plan- II – State Plan – KJ – Maintenace of Orphanages run by Government – 24 – Materials and Supplies"(DPC 2235 02 104 KJ 2403).

6) This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.48/DS(GV)/SW/2000 Dated 10-5-2000.
