ORDER:

The Government of Tamil Nadu is running 25 Government Orphanages with a sanctioned strength of 5000 children under the control of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department throughout the State.

The inmates of the Government Orphanages are distitute children who do not have the opportunity and access to many recreational activities. In order to break the monotony of the routine life style, the Government in the G.O. first read above issued orders, sanctioning an expenditure of Rs.4.20 lakhs during 1999-2000 for taking the inmates of Government Orphanages for an excursion. In his letter second read above, the Commissioner of Social Welfare has proposed to take the inmates for excursions to the neighbouring places during the year 2000-2001 at a cost of Rs. 4.20 lakhs and requested the Government to issue standing sanction orders for the continuance of the scheme within the budget provision every year.

The Government, after careful consideration, accept the proposal of Commissioner of Social Welfare and accord sanction to incur an expenditure of Rs.4.20 lakhs within the budget provision for 2000-2001 for taking the inmates of Government Orphanages for an excursion once in a year.

The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited to

"2235-Social security and Welfare-02-Social Welfare-104-Welfare of aged, infirm

and and destitute. Scheme in the Nineth Five Year Plan-II-State Plan-KJ-Maintenance of Orphanages run by Government-54 expenses on cnducted tours"

This order issues with the cncurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.416/SS (GV)/SW/2000 dt.6.7.2000.
