ORDER:-
In the reference read above, the Commissioner of Social Defence has informed that Department of Social Defence runs directly 11 Government Children’s Homes for the Reception, Care, Treatment, Education, Training, Development and Rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection as ordered by the Child Welfare Committees Children in need of care and protection can be kept in Children’s Homes for a maximum period of until they attain the age of 18 years. Besides other things education is imparted to the children. Most of these institutions have schools functioning with its premises recognised by Education Department. Out of the 11 Government Children’s Homes, 9 Children’s Homes are having school sections in the premises of which two are High Schools and the rest are middle schools. Conducting science exhibitions in all these 9 schools will pave way for the students to enrich their knowledge in science. It would also create interest in students to know more about science and go for innovations. Hence it is considered that science exhibitions may be conducted every year in all these, 9 Children’s Home. Each Children’s Home may be allotted Rs.2000/- per year to conduct the science exhibition.
2. The Government have examined the proposal of the Commissioner of Social Defence and accord sanction to incur an expenditure of Rs.18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen thousand only) for Conducting Science Exhibitions in all Nine Children’s / Special Homes having inbuilt schools.
3. The expenditure shall be debited to the following head of account:-
“2235-Social Security and Welfare 02-Social Welfare – 106. Correctional Service- I-Non plan – AD. Approved Schools -24. Materials and Supplies”

4. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.50090/SW/2006, dated 21.8.2006.
