order:

The Director of Social Defence has stated that in the 4th State Leve cvo-ordination Committee Meeting on Prevention of Trafficking and Combating Commercial Sexual Exploitation of women and Children held on 4.8.2003.  It was resolved that the problem  relating to the rehabilitation of eunuchs need a detailed study and accordingly a Sub-Committee needs to be constituted for the same consisting of the following members:-

1. The Director of Social Welfare,            ..           Chairman

2.  Superintendent of Police (CB CID)     ..            Member

3.  Dr. Manorama, CHES                        ..           Member

4.  Joint director, (NSS) SChool Education, 
     Chennai- 6                                                     Member

5.  Field Officer, Department of Social Defence      Member

He  has also stated that it was also decided that the Committee would submit its report within a month's time to enable the Government to initiate necessary action for rehabilitation of eunuchs.  The Director of Social Defence has further added that besides other things, the Committee would address the following issues:-

He has therefore requested the government to issues necessary orders constituting the above Sub-Committee.

2.  The Government after careful consideration, accept the proposal of the Director of Social Defence and direct that a Sub-Committee with the following members be constituted for the rehabilitation of eunuchs with the following members:

1. The Director of Social Welfare,           ..                     Chairman

2.  Superintendent of Police (CB CID)     ..                     Member

3.  Dr. Manorama, CHES               ..                             Member

4.  Joint director, (NSS) School Education, Chennai- 6    Member

5.  Field Officer, Department of Social Defence               Member

     The Committee will examine the following issues:-

  1. Issues involving gender classification.

  2. Strategies to be adopted in their rehabilitation

The The Director of Social Welfare, will be the Nodal Officer for the subject. 

The  Committee will submit its report to Government within one months time from the date of its formation.

  1. The Sub-Committee will be the first class committee and the non-official members will also eligible for Traveling Allowance and Daily Allowance as per orders issued in G.O.Ms.No.896, Finance Department dated 23.10.1987.

  1. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.3493/FS/2003 dated 20.10.2003
