50 Read: From the Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce Lr.No.54646/PDB1/2003 dated 20.11.03. --------- ORDER: Tamilnadu is one of the major coir producing States in the Country. Coir Industry is concentrated in the districts of Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Madurai and Salem. Coir Industry is a potential activity in Tamilnadu, as it contributes to its rural economy besides providing employment to the rural people, mostly women. 2. The Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce has stated that in order to create awareness among the Departments engaged in prevention of soil erosion and for laying ready made lawns, Coir Board has drawn up a plan to conduct demonstration of Coir Geo-Textiles in four different activities in the State. The geotex material will be provided by the Coir Board while the labour and other expenses will be borne by the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries of this scheme are the various Government Departments such as Public Works Department, Highways, Agriculture, Forest Departments etc. The locations for conducting demonstration will be identified by the Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce. The estimated cost for demonstration is Rs.8.00 lakhs. Coir Board has come forward to share Rs.6.00 lakhs and the balance Rs.2.00 lakhs has to be borne by the State Government as its share towards labour and other expenses on behalf of the beneficiary Departments. 3. The Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce has therefore requested the Government to sanction Rs.2.00 lakhs as its share for conducting the demonstration under Part II Schemes 2004-05. 4. The Government after careful examination have decided to accept the proposal of Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce in para 3 above. 5. Sanction is accorded for incurring an expenditure not exceeding Rs.2.00 lakhs (Rupees Two Lakhs only) towards State Government share for conducting four demonstrations trials in this State on the application of coir Geo-Textiles in Tamil Nadu in the locations selected by Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce in consultation with the concerned departments. 6. The expenditure sanctioned in para 5 above shall be debited to the following head of account: "2851 - 00 Village and Small Industries 106 Coir Industries - Schemes in the Tenth Five Year Plan II State Plan JB Assistance for conducting Demonstration Application of Coir Geo-Textiles 09 Grants in - Aid 03 Grants for specific schemes (D.P.Code No.2851 00 106 JB 0931)." 7. The Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 5 above to the Coir Board. The Coir Board will furnish the details of expenditure. 8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.29255/Ind/2004-1, Dated: 29.4.04. (BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR) D.
