Sir,
Sub: Relief – Tamil Nadu Family Distress Relief Scheme – Assistance to bereaved families of poor households which lose their breadwinner certain clarification – issued.
Ref: G.O.ms.No.470 Finance (CMPRF) Dated 23.5.89
As per G.O.ms.No.470 Finance (CMPRF) Department dated 23.5.89 a financial assistance of Rs.5000 is given under the Family Distress Relief Scheme to the bereaved families of households which lose their breadwinner.
2. Under this scheme, the poverty criterion fixed for deciding the eligibility is in the case of families who are wholly or partly dependent on non-agricultural income, the annual income earned from all sources should not exceed Rs.5000 per annum . In some cases the collectors have a sough clarificatio as to whether the family income under this scheme should be reckoned before or after the death of the breadwinner. In this connection, I am directed too clarify that the annual family income should be reckoned, before the death of the breadwinner.
Yours faithfully,
for Special Secretary to Government.
