ORDER:
In the Government Order read above, the Government have introduced a new scheme namely "Tamil Nadu Family Distress Relief Scheme" to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families of poor households who suffer loss of income on account of death of the bread-winter of families whose annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs.5000/- per annum.
2. Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Education and Public Service Association, South Arcot Districts has represented that the annual income limit for the Distress Relief Scheme may be enhanced from Rs.5000/- to 15,000/-. The Collector of Salem has suggested that the above income limit may enhanced from Rs.5000/- to 12,000/- by taking into account the increase in the cost of living of the poor families. Considering the above views, the Principal Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration has recommended that the present ceiling limit of annual income of household may be enhanced from Rs.5000/- to 7200/- under the Tamil Nadu Family Distress Relief Scheme.
3.The Government, after careful examination, have decided to accept the above recommendation of the Principal Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration and accordingly pas s orders enhancing the ceiling limit of annual income from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 7200/- for eligibility under the Tamil Nadu Family Distress Relief Scheme.
4. This order will come into force from the date of issue.
5. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department (vide its U.O.No.57583/96, Finance (CMPRF.) dt. 26.7.96.
