ORDER:-
In G.O. Ms.No. 76, Revenue, dt. 12.2.2002, the Government have accorded sanction for incurring an expenditure of Rs. 49/- crores (Rupees forty nine crores only) from Calamity Relief Fund for undertaking relief measures due to heavy rain/floods during the first week of February, 2002 in the districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai and Cuddalore as detailed below:-

2. Now, the Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration in the letter fourth read above has reported that the Collector of Cuddalore District has stated that a sum of Rs.10/- lakhs from Calamity Relief Fund was sanctioned to Cuddaore District for repairs and restoration of damages caused to Veeranam Eri Road in Cuddalore district damaged due to heavy rains in February, 2002. Then based on the proceedings issued by the Principal Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration on 7.3.2002, the Collector, Cuddalore district has allotted the amount of Rs. 10/- lakhs to the Divisional Engineer, (Highways and Rural Works) Cuddalore for undertaking repair and restoration of Veeranam Eri Road. But, the Divisional Engineer, Highways and Rural Works could not be able to get the L.O.C. from Finance Department in time, i.e., before 31/3/2002 for this amount. The Collector has, therefore, requested to revalidate the Government order for 2002-2003 so as to enable to incur the expenditure during 2002-2003. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration has therefore recommended the proposal of the Collector of Cuddalore district to the Government. The State Level Committee for Calamity Relief Fund Schemes in its meeting held on 31.12.2002 has agreed to the proposal.
3. In the circumstances stated above, the Government after careful examination accord sanction for Rs. 10/- lakhs (Rupees ten lakhs only) for the year 2002-2003 for incurring the expenditure by the Collector of Cuddalore District in connection with repair and restoration of Veeranam Eri Road in Cuddalore district.
4. Necessary funds will be provided in the Final Modified Appropriation 2002-2003.
5. The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited under the following head of account:-
"2245. Relief on account of Natural Calamities 02 Floods, Cyclone, etc.800 Other expenditure.I-Non-Plan-BB. Repairs and Restoration of damaged roads, bridges and buildings of public works department 17 minor works." (DPC No. 2245 02 800 BB 1705).
6. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration is requested to include this expenditure while sending proposals for Final Modified Appropriation 2002-2003.
7. The District Treasury Officer, Cuddalore is requested to admit and honour the bills only based on the provision of funds made in Final Modified Appropriation 2002-2003.
8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.4890/Revenue/2003, dated 31.1.2003 and the Additional Sanction ledger No.1193.
