-------
According to the orders issued in the Government orders first and second cited, a relief amount of Rs.15,000 is granted to the families of death victims of poor occupational categories who die due to snake bite. It is being insisted that the application for grant of relief to the Special Tahsildar should accompany the post mortem report and F.I.R.. It is brought to the notice of the Government that the beneficiaries under this scheme are mostly poor illiterate and that they do not aware of this procedure. This question has been examined in consultation with the PC & CRA as to whether the relief may be granted without there two certificates, if it cases are acceptable to the Collector on the basis of detailed enquiry.
2. The PC & CRA in his report has reported that a circular has been issued to all the collectors for wide publicity in the villages of the fact that FIR and post Mortem report are essential to grant relief to the families of death victims due to snake bite He has also recommended that in the absence of the above two reports if the collectors are satisfied of the genuiness of the snake bite, death relief from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund may be granted.
3. This matter has been examined by the Govenment in greater detail, and they direct that the FIR and the post mortem report are essential for the grant of relief to the families of death victims due to snake bite under the Accident Relief Scheme.
Yours faithfully,
for Secretary to Government
