Abstract

Tsunami (giant tidal wave) - struck Tamil Nadu Coast on 26.12.2004 - Heavy damages caused - Visit of inter Ministerial Team of Government of India - to assess the damages - initial expenditure requested - Orders Issued.

1. From the SC & CRA Letter No. NC I(2)/Tsunami, 2004, dated 2.1.2005.

ORDER

The inter Ministerial Team of Government of India is visiting the State for inspecting Tsunami ravaged areas for on the spot assessment for damage/ relief assistance. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration has requested to sanction an advance of Rs. 1.00 lakh to meet the incidental expenses such as cost of Train tickets, and other arrangements for the team to visit Tsunami ravaged districts.

2. Therefore, Under Article - 99 of the Tamil Nadu Financial Code, Volume - I, sanction is accorded for the drawal of an advance of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) to meet the expenditure mentioned in para -1 above.

3. The expenditure sanctioned in para - 2 above shall be debited under the following head of account:

"2029 - 00 - Land Revenue 001. Direction and Administration - I Non Plan AA headquarters Staff - CRA 05 - Office Expenses - 2 other Contingencies" (DP Code 2029 - 00 - 001 - AA - 0529)

4. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration, Chennai is authorized to draw the advance sanctioned in para - 1 above and to meet out the expenditure mentioned in para - 2 above. The advances shall be adjusted by detailed bills and vouchers and the unspent amount, if any, shall be remitted to the proper Government account.

5. This order does not require the concurrence of Finance Department, vide G.O.Ms.No. 519, Finance (Salaries) Department, dated 29.9.1997.

Please see the letter received from the SC & CRA together with enclosures on p 1 -5 cf. The SC & CRAS has since informed the Central Team to is going to visit the coastal district of Tamil Nadu on 4.1.2005 to assess damages caused due to Tsunami.

2. The SC & CRA has therefore requested sanctioned a sum of Rs. 1 lakh as advance towards purchase train tickets and other arrangements. A Draft order above may be approved.
