Order:
In G.O. 1st read above orders were issued sanctioning an immediate relief package to each of the affected families of the Tsunami (giant tidal wave) that struck the Tamil Nadu coast on 26.12.2004, at the total cost of Rs. 49.12 crores. Then it was estimated that about 1 lakh families were affected. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration in the letter 2nd read above has indicated that the number of families affected has crossed more than 1.10 lakhs and it is expected that the number will be around 1.50 lakhs. He has therefore requested to sanction additional relief package for 50,000 families affected, in addition to the amount sanctioned in the G.O. read above.
2. The Government after careful consideration of the proposal of the Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration, sanction a sum of Rs. 24.56 crores (Rupees twenty four crores and fifty six lakhs only) towards the additional relief package for 50,000 families as set out in para 1 above.
3. The amount sanctioned in para 2 above shall be debited under "2245, Relief on account of Natural Calamities-80 General 800, Other Expenditure-I Non-Plan-AB. Assistance for undertaking immediate relief works in connection with Tsunami - 09 Grants in aid -1. Grants for current expenditure". (DPC 2245 80 800 AB 0918).
4. Necessary additional funds will be provided in RE/FMA 2004-2005. Pending provision of additional funds, the Pay & Accounts Office (East) is directed to admit and honour the bill, if otherwise found to be in order.
5. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration is authorized to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 2 above as per the existing procedure to the respective District Collectors. The District Collectors are requested to provide the relief package as indicated above to all the affected families. The Special Commissioner and commissioner of revenue administration is requested to send the utilization Certificate to the Accountant General/Government.
6. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration is requested to send necessary proposals for inclusion of the amount sanctioned in para 2 above in RE/FMA of the 2004-2005.
7. The amount sanctioned in para 2 above shall be brought to the notice of legislature by specific inclusion in Final Supplementary Estimates 2004 - 2005. The Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration is requested to send necessary proposals in this regard to Finance (B.Co-orindation) Department, without fail during February - March 2005.
8. This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No.19127/Finance (Rev) dated 7.1.2005 and additional sanction ledger No. 1336
