Hon'ble Minister of Local Administration made an announcement on the Floor of the Tamil Nadu Assembly on 17.4.2002 for the year 2002-2003 that 6309 Threshing Floors will be taken up for construction during the year 2002-2003 at the cost of Rs.39.5 crores and at the rate of one threshing floor per village panchayat.

2. The Director of Rural Development has sent proposal together with the draft guidelines to Government for construction of threshing floors under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana and sought the orders of the Government for taking up the works of construction of Threshing floors and for approval of the draft guidelines. It has been proposed to construct 6309 threshing floors during the year 2002-2003 at a cost of Rs.39.5 crores and at the rate of one threshing floor per Village Panchayat under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana scheme. The estimate of the work of construction of each threshing floor works out to Rs.60,000/-.

3. The proposal of the Director of Rural Development for construction of the 6309 threshing floors under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana was examined by the Government. The Government decided to permit the Director of Rural Development to take up the works of construction of 6309 threshing Floors for the year 2002-2003 at a cost of Rs.39.5 crores and at the rate of one threshing floor per Village Panchayat under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana. The expenditure for construction of a threshing floor

should not exceed Rs. 60,000/- (Rupees Sixty Thousand only) and also approve the guidelines for the construction of threshing floors annexed to this order. The District Collectors and the Project Officers should ensure that the guidelines issued by the Government of India under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana should be strictly adhered to in the implementation of the project of construction of the threshing floors.

4. This order issues with the concurrence of Planning and Development Department, and Finance Department vide their U.O.No.99/S/02 dated 4.6.2002 and 1956/FS/P/2002 dated 5.6.2002 respectively.
