ORDER:

In the G.O second read above, it has been ordered that "Manimegalai Award" for 5 best Panchayat Level Federations at State Level at Rs.1.00 lakh each and for 10 best Self Help Groups at State Level at Rs.50, 000/- each will be given. It has also been ordered that award for one best Panchayat Level Federation at District Level at Rs.50, 000/- each (30 Districts) and for 3 best Self Help Groups at District Level at Rs.10, 000/- each will be given.

2. In the G.O first read above, Selection Committees have been constituted for selecting State Level Awards under the Chairmanship of the Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited and for District Level Awards under the Chairmanship of the District Collector at the District Level.

3. The Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited has stated that the District Level Selection Committee headed by the District Collector has scrutinized the applications at District Level and sent one best Self Help Group and one best Panchayat Level Federation for the selection of the State level award. He has stated further that the State Level Committee constituted for this purpose met on 19.02.2007, perused the applications and has recommended 20 Self Help Groups and 10 Panchayat Level Federations in the order of merit for consideration of Manimegalai award for 10 best Self Help Groups and 5 best Panchayat Level Federations in the State The Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited has recommended 9 Panchayat Level Federations and 11 Self Help Groups in the order of merit.

6. The Government after careful examination of the proposal of the Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited selected the following best 5 Panchayat Level Federations and best 10 Self Help Groups for State Level ‘Manimegalai Award’.
