ORDER:

In the Government order first read above, orders have been issued for adoption of Schedule of rates for works under Tamil Nadu Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme over and above 60% increase in Public Works Department Schedule of Rates for earth work excavation in ordinary soil, earth work excavation in hard soil, stone pitching (unskilled) and rough stone dry packing (unskilled), inorder to ensure a daily minimum wage of Rs.80/- per day. Subsequently, in the Government order second read above, orders have been issued for the revision of schedule of rates by 60% upwards for earth works covered under Soft Disintegrated Rock (SDR) category appearing in PWD’s standard Schedule of Rates inrespect of Sivagangai District.

2. The Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in his letter third read above has stated that the Public Works Department has released the schedule of rates for the year 2007-2008 for adoption with effect from 01.04.2007. The items approved by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department in the Rural Schedule of Rates have also been increased. Hence, the Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has stated that it is essential to revise the Rural Schedule of Rates also.

3. The Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has stated that as the Government approved Rural Schedule of Rates for 2006-07 for the works under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at 60% extra over the PWD Schedule of rates, the same percentage may be continued for 2007-2008 and the rates may be modified accordingly.

4. The Government after careful examination of the above proposal of the Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, revise the rural schedule of rates under Tamil Nadu Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme by adopting 60% increase over the PWD schedule of rates for the year 2007-08 as follows.
