ABSTRACT National Food for Work Programme – Preparation of Perspective Plan – Selection of Agency for the preparation for perspective plan – Constitution of committee at district level – orders issued. RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SGSY) DEPARTMENT G.O.Ms.No.7 Read:- From Director Rural Development, Letter No.90889 / 04 / SGRY III, dated 11.1.2005.****** ORDER: The Government of India have launched National Food for work programme in 150 identified most backward districts of India to provide additional resources apart from the resources available under SGRY so as to generate supplementary wage employment and to provide food security through creation of need based economic, social and community assets in these districts. In Tamil Nadu, the Government of India have selected four Districts viz. Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Nagapattinam Districts for implementation of the said scheme and have tentatively allocated funds and rice to these Districts. 2. The National Food for work Programme Guidelines envisage preparation of a Five Year perspective plan for the District and its approval form the Ministry of Rural Development , Government of India. Thus a perspective plan of five years for the period 2005-2010 is to be prepared by each of the above four districts selected under National Food for work Programme, basically on four activities namely:- Water conservation and drought proofing including afforestation.
Land Development – Food Control Protection measures including drainage in watershed areas and Rural connectivity with fair weather roads in the given order of priority.
Expert / Agency will be engaged for the purpose. According to para 5.2 (ii) under chapter (v) of the Guidelines of National Food for work Programme, the selection of agency will be by a committee headed by the Collector. The other members of committee can be decided by the State Government which will also prescribe parameters for shortlisting of Agencies. 3. In accordance with the guidelines of National Food for Work Programme and board on the suggestion of the Director of Rural Development, the Government constitute a District level committee for selection of Agencies for preparation of perspective plan with the following members.
