NOTIFICATION - II

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (I) of section 24 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby constitutes with effect on and from the 28^th January, 2004, a district panchayat for the Krishnagiri district, comprising the local areas forming the panchayat unions specified below, namely:-

NOTIFICATION - I

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (I) of section 24 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Rural Development Department Notification No.II/(2)/RUL/1439/(b-11)/95, published at page 8 in Part II - Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary, dated the 13^th April 1995:-

2. The amendment hereby made shall come into force on the 28^th January, 2004.

AMENDMENT.

In the said Notification, for the heading "Name of the Panchayat Unions" and the entries thereunder, the following heading and entries shall be substituted, namely:-

NOTIFICATION - III

WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 24 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Governor of Tamil Nadu has constituted with effect on and from the 28^th January, 2004 a district panchayat for the Krishnagiri district consequent to the bifurcation of the Dharmapuri district into Dharmapuri district with headquarters at Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri district with headquarters at Krishnagiri;

AND WHEREAS, it will take some more time for the newly constituted Krishnagiri district panchayat to convene its first meeting, after ordinary election to the said district panchayat;

AND WHEREAS, in view of the circumstances aforesaid, it has become necessary to appoint special officer to exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the Krishnagiri district panchayat under the said Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), until the date on which the first meeting of the Krishnagiri district panchayat is held, after ordinary election to the said district panchayat;

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 261 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby appoints the District Collector, Krishnagiri district, as special officer of the Krishnagiri district panchayat to exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the said district panchayat, until the day on which the first meeting of the said district panchayat is held, after the ordinary election to the said district panchayat.
