ABSTRACT Irrigation Public Works Department –Part- II Scheme for 2007-2008 –Proposal for Construction of an anicut cum Check Dam across Valliyar in Eranial Village of Kalkulam taluk in Kanyakumari District – Administrative Approval - Orders-Issued. From the Engineer-in-Chief,Water Resources Organisation,and Chief Engineer (General) Public Works Department letter No.S7(4)/54222/ T.cell/2007-11, Dated 8-5-2007. ORDER: The Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Organisation and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, has sent proposal to the Government for the construction of an anicut cum Check Dam across Valliyar in Eranial Village of Kalkulam taluk in Kanyakumari District at an estimated cost of Rs. 59.50 lakhs. 2. The Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources Organisation and Chief Engineer (General) Public Works Department, in his letter second read above, has stated that by implementing this scheme, the following area will be benefited:- Double crop wet lands under Oorankulam and Pudukulam – 16.04.0 Ha Third crop (dry) under Oorankulam and Pudukulam – 16.04.0 Ha Coconut thoppu in Oorankulam Ayacut area - 10.26.5 Ha New ayacut proposed along left side supply kal from proposed anicut – 8.09.0 Ha Neyyoor B.C ayacut double crop wet – 26.305 Ha, Areas under 23 wells by recharging Ground Water - 9.31.0Ha In addition 127 Nos of domestic wells in Eraniel town Panchayat will be benefited. For implementing this scheme, 0.03 acres of patta land is to be acquired and the Benefit cost ratio of this scheme works out to 3.17:1 3. The above scheme has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee under Part–II Schemes for the year 2007–2008. Accordingly, the Government accord administrative sanction for the construction of an anicut cum check dam across Valliyar in Eranial Village of Kalkulam Taluk in Kanyakumari District with the loan assistance of NABARD at an ultimate cost of Rs.59.50 lakhs (Rupees fifty nine lakhs and fifty thousand only) and the expenditure for the year 2007-2008 is restricted to Rs.24.00 lakhs (Rupees twenty four lakhs only). 4. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 3 above shall be debited to the following head of account:- "4702- Capital outlay on Minor Irrigation – 101. Surface water –Scheme in the XI th Five year Plan - II State Plan - JI – Implementations - of Special Minor Irrigation Programme with the loan assistance from NABARD – 16 Major Works (4702-00-101-JI-1601)” 5. The Chief Engineer, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, Madurai Region is requested to take up the work immediately and complete it within the time limit. He is also requested to send the progress of work to the Government, periodically every month. 6. This order issued with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.
