ORDER:-

The Chief Engineer, Plan Formulation, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, in his letter second read above, has sent the proposal to the Government for the Construction of retaining wall to avoid the outflanking of Valliyar river water near Kalpady Yela in Thalakulam in Kalkulam taluk of Kanyakumari District at an estimated cost of Rs.22.00 lakhs.

2. The Engineer–In-Chief, Water Resources Organisation and Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, in his letter third read above has stated that the estimate contemplates for the construction of a RCC retaining wall along the right bank of Valliyar river in the breached portion to save crops in 29.64 acres of low lying cultivable land and the total cost of the scheme works out to Rs.22.00 lakhs to the current schedule of rates for the year 2007–2008 and requested administrative sanction of the Government.

3. The above scheme has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee under Part-II Schemes for the year 2007-2008. Accordingly, the Government accord administrative sanction for Construction of retaining wall to avoid the outflanking of Valliyar river water near Kalpady Yela in Thalakulam in Kalkulam taluk of Kanyakumari District at an ultimate cost of Rs.22.00 lakhs (Rupees Twenty two lakhs only).

4. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 3 above shall be debited to the following head of account:-

"4702.00-Capital outlay on Minor irrigation – 101 Surface Water-Schemes in the XI^th five Year Plan – II State Plan – JA. – Special Minor Irrigation Programme – 16 Major Works (4702-00-101-JA 1607)".

5. The Chief Engineer, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, Madurai Region is requested to take up the work immediately and complete it within the time limit. He is also requested to send the report on the progress of work to the Government, periodically every month.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No. 35662/ PW II /07,dated 5.6.2007.
