1. From the Chief Engineer (PF) Lr.No. OT5/DO2/2006, dated 25.4.07.

ORDER:

The Chief Engineer (Plan Formulation), Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department has sent proposals to the Government for the construction of a check dam across Mudalai Muthu vari at 7800m of Thanjavur Taluk and District at an estimated cost of Rs 14.00 lakhs.

2. The Chief Engineer, Plan Formulation, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, has stated that the proposed check dam lies in Thanjavur block which is classified as semi critical block. Hence it has been proposed to carryout suitable artificial recharging structures in suitable locations to augment ground water potential. This particular scheme lies in highly favourable zone for recharge, as classified in the zonation map. There is no land acquisition involved. By implementing this scheme the ground water will be recharged in the adjacent village for meeting drinking water needs through bore well, dug wells. The ultimate cost works out to Rs 14.00 lakhs. This work will be executed by the Regional Chief Engineer concerned. Hence no additional staff will be required for executing the scheme.

3. The scheme mentioned above has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee under Part –II schemes for 2007 –08. Accordingly, the Government accord administrative sanction for the construction of a check dam across Mudalai Muthu vari at 7800m of Thanjavur Taluk and District at an estimated cost of Rs.14.00 lakhs (Rupees Fourteen lakhs only) for the year 2007-2008.

4. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 3 above shall be debited to the following head of account:-

4702 –00– Capital outlay on Minor irrigation – 101. Surface water – Schemes in the XI th Five year Plan – II State plan – JA Special Minor irrigation programme –16 Major works (4702 –00-101-JA – 1607)

5. The Chief Engineer, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, Trichy Region is requested to take up the work immediately and complete it within the stipulated limit. He is also requested to send the progress report of work to the Government every month periodically.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.32359/PW II/2007, Dated.29.5.2007.
