ORDER:

The Chief Engineer (Plan Formulation) Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department has sent proposal through Engineer in Chief, Water Resources Organisation, & Chief Engineer (General), Public Works Department, to the Government for "Construction of a Checkdam across Perumpallam Odai in S.F.No.54 of Thekkampatti Village in Mettupalayam Taluk, in Coimbatore District" at an estimated cost of Rs 21.82 lakhs under Part II Scheme for the year 2007-2008.

2. The Chief Engineer, Plan Formulation, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department has stated that based on the petition received from the Thekkampatti Village in Mettupalayam Taluk in Coimbatore District, this scheme has been taken up for detailed investigation. This scheme lies in highly favorable zone for recharge as classified in the zonation map. It is proposed to construct a checkdam with a capacity of 0.565 Mcft and an annual storage of 2.26 M.cft. By implementing this scheme, in two crop periods, a total extent of 53.94 acres will be stabilized and an extent of 43.01 acres will be created. No land acquisition is involved in this scheme The B.C. ratio will be 1:61:1. The ultimate cost works out to Rs.21.82 lakhs. This work will be executed by the Regional Chief Engineer concerned. Hence no additional staff will be required for executing the scheme.

3. The above scheme has been approved by the Standing Finance Committee under Part –II schemes for 2007– 2008. Accordingly, the Government accord administrative sanction for the "Construction of a Check dam across Perumpallam Odai in S.F.No.54 of Thekkampatti Village in Mettupalayam Taluk, in Coimbatore District" at an amount of Rs. 21.82 lakhs(Rupees Twenty one lakhs and eighty two fhousand only) and the expedition to be incurred during the year 2007-2008 for the above scheme is restricted to Rs.7.00 lakhs (Rupees Seven lakhs only).

4. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 3 above shall be debited to the following head of account:-

"4702 –00– Capital outlay on Minor irrigation – 101. Surface water – schemes in the XI th Five year Plan – II State plan – JA Special Minor irrigation programme –16 Major works" (DPC 4702 –00-101-JA – 1607)

5. The Chief Engineer, Water Resources Organisation, Public Works Department, Pollachi Region is requested to take up the work immediately and to complete it within the stipulated time. He is also requested to send a report on the progress of work to the Government every month periodically.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No. 32170 / PWII / 07, dated 30.5.2007.
