The Cauvery Gauging Sub Division of the Tamil Nadu, Public works Department at Mysore consists of the following staff:-
2. The Government in their order first read above have allowed the staff of the above Sub Division to draw special compensatory allowance at the rate of 10% of the basic pay considering the fact that they have to live away from Tamil Nadu and are often put to certain extra items of expenditure.
3. The Government in their order second read above (i.e. the fifth pay commission) at para 28, have recommended no change in respect of special compensatory allowance. Hence, the payment of the above allowance has been continued at 10% of the basic pay.
4. However no reference has been made in respect of the allowance in the Government orders third read above (i.e. Sixth Pay Commission).
5. The Chief Engineer (State Ground and Surface Water Resources Data Centre) in his letter fourth read above has stated that the staff of Cauvery Gauging Sub Division, Mysore are put to certain extra items of expenditure as they have to live away from Tamil Nadu. The above fact has been accepted by the Government in their orders first read above and the Government have also allowed the staff of the above Sub Division to draw the special compensatory allowance at the rate of 10% of basic pay in the fifth Pay Commission. The Chief Engineer (State Ground & Surface Water Resources Data Centre) has stated that the staff of the above Sub Division may be allowed to draw special compensatory allowance at the rate of 10% of the basic pay in the Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 1998 and requested the orders of the Government.
6. The Government after careful consideration of the request of the Chief Engineer (State Ground & Surface Water Resources Data Centre) direct that special compensatory allowance at the rate of 6% of the basic pay in the Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 1998 be paid to the staff of the Cauvery Gauging Sub Division, Mysore with effect from 1.9.1998.
7. Consequent on the orders in para 6 above, the staff of the Cauvery Gauging Sub Division at Mysore is eligible to draw arrears of the special compensatory allowance with effect from 1.9.1998.
8. The expenditure is debitable to the head of account in which the salary of the staff is charged. 9. This order issue with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O. No.47889/CMPC/2000, dated 3.7.2000.
