ORDER:

The Chief Engineer (Plan Formulation) has sent the proposal for the construction of an anicut across Suriyar to feed Pappankulam and other tanks in Kulathur taluk of Pudukottai District at a cost of Rs.70.00 lakhs under Part II Scheme for 2003-04.

2. The Chief Engineer (Plan Formulation) has stated that by implementing this scheme an extent of 98.34 acres of existing gap will be bridged and 86.64 acres of existing ayacut will be stabilized. An extent of 0.4 acres of patta land is to be acquired for the scheme.

3. The Government after careful consideration accept the proposal and accord administrative sanction for the construction of an anicut across Suriyar to feed Pappankulam and other four tanks in Kulathur taluk of Pudukottai District at an ultimate cost of Rs.70.00 lakhs (Rupees seventy lakhs only). The expenditure during the current financial year for 2003-2004 shall be restricted to Rs.40.00 lakhs (Rupees forty lakhs only).

4. The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debitable to the following head of account:

4702.00. Capital Outlay on Minor Irrigation - 101. Surface water Schemes in the Tenth Five Year Plan - II. State Plan - JA. Special Minor Irrigation Programme - 16. Major Works (DPC No.4702 00 101 JA 1607).

5. The Chief Engineer, Water Resources Organisation, Trichirapalli Region is requested to take up work immediately and complete it within the time limit. He is also requested to send the periodical progress of work to the Government.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.26329/PWII/2003-1, dated 12.5.2003.
