ORDER:-

In the Government Order first read above orders were issued appointing the 1st October, 2002 as the date on which the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Farmers'  Management of Irrigation Systems  Act 2000 (Act No. 7 of 2001) shall come into force in all the ayacut area maintained by Water Resources Organisation of Public Works Department in the following Districts

Tiruvallur

Vellore

Dharmapuri

Thiruvannamalai

Villupuram

 

Cuddalore

Pudukkottai

Dindigul

Madurai

Theni

Virudhunagar

Ramanathapuram

Sivagangai

Thoothukudi

Thirunelveli

Kanniyakumari

Erode

Coimbatore

 

 

2. In his letters third read above, the Chief Engineer, (Operation and Maintenance), Water Resources Organisation has requested orders to conduct the elections to the Water Users' Association in the above notified districts in three spells on 24.1.2004, 31.1.2004 and 7.2.2004 and to approve the symbols to be allotted to the contesting candidates for the post of  President  of Water Users' Association and  Territorial Constituency Members  and to  print the wall posters and brochures carrying the informations about the Water Users' Association and  the elections to Water Users' Associations for distribution among the farmers.

3. The Government, after careful examination, accept the proposal of Chief Engineer (Operation and Maintenance), Water Resources Organisation and direct that the elections to Water Users' Associations in the above 19 districts be conducted on 24.1.2004, 31.1.2004 and 7.2.2004  as detailed in the Annexure - I to this order.

4. The Chief Engineer (Operation and Maintenance), Water Resources Organisation is permitted to print the required number of the wall posters and brochures in the model furnished by him carrying the informations about the Farmers Organisation/ Water Users' Association and elections to Water Users' Associations and to distribute among the farmers. The list of symbols to be allotted to the contesting candidates for the post of President of Water Users' Association and for Territorial Constituency Members is furnished in the Annexure-II  to this order.

5. The District Collectors concerned are directed to conduct the elections as per provision contained in the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Management of Irrigation Systems Act 2000  (Tamil Nadu Act 7 of 2001) on the dates mentioned in para 3 above.
