ORDER:-

 

Section 21 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, (Central Act 10 of 1994) provides for the constitution of State Human Rights Commission in the States to exercise the powers conferred upon and to perform the functions assigned to it, as provided under this Act. The Government after careful examination have decided to constitute a State Human Rights Commission in this State.

2. Accordingly, the Government direct that a State Human Rights Commission be constituted in this State with the following Members:-

    1. a Chairperson who has been a Chief Justice of a High Court;
    2. One member who is, or has been a Judge of a High Court;
    3. One member who is, or has been, a District Judge in this State;
    4. Two members from amongst persons having knowledge of, or practical experience in matters relating to Human Rights; and
    5. One Secretary, not below the rank of the Secretary to Government, who shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the State Commission.

3. Orders regarding the appointment of Chairperson and other members of the above Commission will be issued separately.

4. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.4355/FS/P/96, dated 17.10.1996.
