Award - The Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise Constitution of the Selection Committee  - Orders Issued.

Order:

In the G.O. first read above, orders were issued instituting the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise to a woman who is native of Tamil Nadu to be presented by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on the Independence Day every year.  The Collectors, Universities and other reputed institutions concerned have to send their recommendations to the Selection Committee for selection of person for the receipt of the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise.

2.  The Government accordingly constitutes the Selection Committee with the following officials:-

The Government direct that the Member Secretary of the Selection Committee shall collect the names of women who commit act(s) of Bravery, Courage and Daring Enterprise in any field, from the Collectors, the Universities and other reputed institutions and place the names before the Selection Committee for the selection of one woman for the receipt of the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise.   The Government also direct that the Member Secretary of the Selection Committee should send the name of the Awardee to the Public (General.I) Department to include in the programme for the Independence Day Celebration along with Medal to be conferred to the Awardee with Cash Certificate for Rs.5.00 Lakhs and citation to be presented to the Awardee by the Hon'ble Chief Minister on the Independence Day.
