Abstract Award - The Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise - Rules and Regulations - Orders Issued. PUBLIC (GENERAL.I) DEPARTMENT G.O. Ms.
No.791 Read G.O. Ms. No.160, Public (General.1) Department, dated 7.2.2003. ***** Order: In the G.O. read above, orders were issued instituting the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise by a women who is native of Tamil Nadu. The Government direct that the following rules and guidelines shall be followed for the selection of "The Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise". 1. These rules shall be known as the "Rules for the award of the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise". 2. The award shall be in the form of Medal and named as the "The Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise". 3. The medal shall be awarded for display of courage and daring enterprise by a woman who is a native of Tamil Nadu. The medal will be presented by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on the Independence Day. 4. The Medal will be circular in shape having a diameter of 83 mm and thickness of 6mm. It will be made of silver with gold coating. The words ¶E¾ ñŸÁ‹ ê£èê„ ªêò½‚è£ù è™ðù£ ꣚ô£ M¼¶ (õöƒ°‹ ݇¬ì °PŠHì «õ‡´‹) will be inscribed on the obverse side in Tamil. Below it the name of the recipient of the Award shall be inscribed. On the reverse side, the emblem of the State viz. the Gopuram motif with the words below, will be inscribed. The cost of the medal shall be Rs.5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) 5. In addition to the medal, a cash certificate for Rs.5.00 lakhs (Rupees five lakhs only) will also be given to the recipient. 6. The number of medal awarded in a year shall be one. The name of the recipient will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. 7. The awardee will be selected by the Selection Committee constituted by the Government for this purpose and her name will be approved by the Government. The Govt. also direct that the Higher Education Department shall open a new head of account for this purpose in consultation with the Finance Department. (BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR) T.
