ABSTRACT Holidays - General Holidays and Restricted Holidays for the State Government offices for the year 2004 - Orders - Issued. PUBLIC (MISCELLANEOUS) DEPARTMENT G.O.Ms.
No.1616 ORDER: In order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Government machinery and to render better service to the general public, it has been decided to reduce the general holidays for the Government offices in the State. The Government accordingly fix 16 (Sixteen) days as General Holidays for all the Government offices in the State for the year 2004. The following Notification shall be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette:- NOTIFICATION The Government direct that the days specified in Annexure-I shall be observed as General Holidays by all State Government Offices during the year 2004. 2. The Government also direct that all offices under the State Government shall remain closed on all Saturdays and Sundays in all the months during the year 2004. 3. In addition to the General Holidays mentioned in Annexure-I to this order, the Government declare the six days mentioned in Annexure-II as 'Restricted Holidays' which will be included in the list of 'Restricted Holidays' notified already by the Government in Letter No.92811/FR-III/94-8, Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department, dated 12.2.1996. 4. The State Government employees may avail themselves of holidays not exceeding THREE 'Restricted Holidays' in a year on the festivals/occasions from the list of 'Restricted Holidays' at their option and irrespective of the religion to which the festival pertains. Permission to avail oneself of these holidays should be applied for, in writing, in advance and will normally be granted by the superior officers competent to grant casual leave except when the presence of an individual employee is considered necessary in exigencies of Government work. 5. The above General Holidays notified shall also apply to all State Undertakings/Corporations/Boards, etc. (BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR) LAKSHMI
