Abstract

PROHIBITION AND EXCISE (VII) DEPARTMENT

G.O.(Ms) No.124                                                                                     Dated 20-6-2000.

ORDER;

          The Honourable Chief Minister had made among others, an announcement on the Floor of the Legislative Assembly that a Toll Free Number will be established in the Office of the Inspector General of Police (Prohibition), Chennai.

          2. With reference to the announcement made by the Honourable Chief Minister, the Government have decided to install a separate telephone to the Office of the Inspector General of Police (Prohibition), Prohibition Enforcement Wing, Chennai for offering toll-free Service for receiving the complaints from the Public.  The call charges for the complaints made by the Public through this Free phone Service will be borne by the Government.  Call charges will not be borne by the Public.

          3. Accordingly, the Government accord sanction for provision of a ‘Free Phone Service’ to the Office of the Inspector General of Police, Chennai.

          4. The Government also accord sanction for incurring an expenditure of Rs.17,600/- (Rupees Seventeen thousand and six hundred only) towards installation and other charges of  free phone service.

          5.The Public (Telephone-II) Department is requested to issue formal orders in the matter.

          6. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 4 above should be debited to ‘2055-00 – Police – 101.Criminal Investigation and Vigilance I. Non-Plan – AW. Central Investigation Unit – 0512’.

          7. This order issues with the concurrence of the Public (Telephone-II) Department vide U.O.No.20791/Public (Telephones-II)/2000-1, dated 25-5-2000 and Finance Department vide U.O.No.1814/FS/P/2000, dated 5-6-2000.
