ORDER:

In the Government Order second read above, the Government have sanctioned an expenditure of Rs.23.00 lakhs for Remote Sensing activities under Western Ghats Development Programme during 2004-05.

2. In the letter third and fourth read above, the Director, Centre for Remote Sensing, Bharathidasan University and the Director, Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University have sent proposals at an estimate of Rs.13.00 lakhs and Rs.20.00 lakhs respectively for implementing Remote Sensing schemes under Western Ghats Development Programme for the year 2005-06. The Government, after having

detailed examination, restricted the total outlay to the level of Rs.23.00 lakhs (Rs.15.00 lakhs to the Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University and Rs.8.00 lakhs to the Centre for Remote Sensing, Bharathidasan University) to the Remote

Sensing Sector under Western Ghats Development Programme for the year 2005-06 and recommended it to the Union Planning Commission, Government of India for approval. In the letter fifth read above, the Union Planning Commission has also communicated its approval of Rs.23.00 lakhs for Remote Sensing sector under Western Ghats Development Programme for the year 2005-2006.

3. The Government, after careful consideration, accord sanction for incurring an expenditure of Rs.23.00 lakhs (Rupees Twenty three lakhs only) for the year 2005-2006 towards implementing Remote Sensing activities under Western Ghats Development Programme as detailed in the Annexure to this order.

4. The expenditure sanctioned in Para-3 above shall be debited under the following head of account (Demand No.19):

"2551 Hill Areas – 01.Western Ghats – 125. Other Scientific Research – Schemes in the Tenth Five Year Plan – II State Plan – JA. Schemes for Remote Sensing Technology – 09. Grants-in-aid – 03. Grants for specific schemes" (DPC 2551 01 125 JA 0935)

5. The Director of Technical Education is authorised to draw and disburse the amount of Rs.23.00 lakhs (Rupees Twenty three lakhs only) as indicated below :

7. As envisaged in the G.O first read above, the Higher Education Department is requested to watch the implementation of the schemes.

8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.1559/FS/P/05, dated.10-5-2005.
