Tamil Nadu Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1973 - Permission to Government Servants to give lectures - Further instructions - Issued - Rule 8 of the Taml Nadu Government Servants' Conduct Rules - Amended.

ORDER : 

In the Government Order first read above, orders have been issued permitting the Government servants under Rule 8(1)(aa) of the Tamil Nadu Government  Servants' Conduct Rules, 1973, to deliver lectures at Government and Quasi-Government Academic and Technical Institutions and to receive remuneration therefor for a  specified period not exceeding one year at a time subject to the condition that it should not interfere with official duties.  Amendments to the above rules have also been issued to that effect in the Government Order second read above.  In the Government Order third read above, orders have been issued permitting the Government Servants to deliver lectures at Government aided academic/technical institutions also.  Necessary amendments to Tamil Nadu Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1973, have also been made in this regard in the above Government Order.  In the above proviso no mention has been made about  delivering lectures by the Government Servants in the Universities.  It is now considered that Universities may also be brought within the scope of the said proviso. 

2.  The Government, therefore, direct that under rule 8(1)(aa) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1973, Government Servants may be permitted to deliver lectures in Universities. 

3.  The following Notification will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette :-  

NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Tamil Nadu Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1973 :- 

AMENDMENT 

In the said Rules, in rule 8, in sub-rule (1), in clause (aa), in the proviso, after the words "Government Aided Academic or technical institutions", the words "or at Universities" shall be inserted.
