Sir/Madam,
Sub : Leave – Unearned Leave on Medical Certificate – Government Servants taking treatment as
inpatients in Government Hospitals Leave co-terminus with the period of treatment – Exemption
from appearance before Medical Board – Clarification – Issued.
Ref : G.O.Ms.No.727, P & A.R.(FR.III) Dept., dt.12.7.1980.
……
I am directed to state that in the Government Order cited, orders have been issued to the effect that reference to Medical Board is not necessary for granting unearned leave on Medical Certificate in the case of Government servants who are admitted as inpatients in Government hospitals for the period of treatment and also if the period of leave recommended is co-terminus with the period of treatment.
2. A doubt has been raised whether medical leave can be granted without reference to Medical Board for continuance of treatment even after discharge from the hospital based on the certificate issued by a Medical Officer. I am directed to clarify that even in such cases unearned leave on medical certificate may be granted without reference to Medical Board provided the treatment is continuous and the Certificate regarding the treatment is issued by a medical Officer not below the rank of a Civil Assistant Surgeon serving in that particular department in the particular
hospital where the Government servant concerned was admitted as inpatient for treatment.
Yours faithfully,
Sd/- xx
For Deputy Secretary to Government.
