 ORDER :

In the G.O. cited, Government have ordered that Government servants working in the departments, where Management qualification could be utilized and who hold the Post-Graduate Degree and Master of Management Sciences of recognized Institutions, be given two advance increments.

  1. (i)                 The Registrar, University of Madras, has pointed out that the nomenclature of the Degree of the Master of Management Science of the University of Madras has been changed as Master of Business Administration from the academic year 1975-76 and that the Degrees of Master of Management Science and the Master of Business Administration are one and the same.  He has requested that suitable amendment to the orders may be issued.
  2. (ii)               The Accountant General, Tamil Nadu, has requested to indicate the competent authority to sanction the advance increments and also to specify the procedure by which the authority shall satisfy itself the usefulness of the additional qualification in his department. He has also insisted that for the purpose of audit, a certificate of compliance with the prescribed conditions, be sent to him.
  3. (iii)             A question has also arisen, whether the benefit of advance increments could be extended to Post-Graduate diplomas in Management Sciences of recognised Institutions which are recognised as equivalent to Post-Graduate Degree in Management Sciences.

2. The Government has examined the above issues carefully. They direct that :-

  1. (i)                 holders of the degree of Master of Business Administration of any recognized Institutions are also eligible to get the benefit of two advance increments ordered in G.O. cited, subject to the fulfillment of the conditions stipulated therein;
  2. (ii)               the power of grant advance increments for possessing the Post-Graduate Degree of Master of Management Science or Degree of Master of Business Administration rests with the Government; and
  3. (iii)             holders of any Post-Graduate Degree of Management Sciences or Diploma from recognized Institutions be also eligible for the benefit of two advance increments provided that the degree or diploma they possess should be equivalent to the Post-Graduate Degree of Master of Management Science or Degree of Master of Business Administration, subject to the fulfillment of the conditions stipulated in the G.O. cited.
