               Incentives to Drivers  of Government Vehicles - Award  of  Gold Medals for those  who have rendered 20 years accident free service - Placing of orders with the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai - Orders - Issued.

 ORDER:-

 In the Government Order first cited, orders have been issued formulating a scheme with effect from the financial year 1992-93 to grant the following incentives to the Drivers of the Government of Tamil Nadu, driving Government vehicles who have rendered unblemished and accident-free service subject to satisfying certain condictions as laid down therein:-

 i)     Award of Small Savings Certificate for Rs. 500/- to the
        Drivers who have completed 10 years of accident-free
        service without other blemishes;

ii)           Award of Gold Medals to the Drivers who have completed
             20 years of accident-free service without other blemishes.

2. By the Government Order second cited, the Director of Stationery and Printing was authorised to arrange to supply the required number of medals by following the usual tender procedure.

3. The Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai, an undertaking of Government of Tamil Nadu, in his letter dated 19.2.1998 has requested the Government that the Corporation may be entrusted with the work of supplying Gold Medals to the Government Departments to be awarded to the eligible Drivers under the scheme of incentives.

 4.  The Government, after careful examination, have decided to accept the above request of the Managing  Director, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai and accordingly direct that in relaxation of G.O.Ms.No.75, Finance (BPE), dated 19.2.1997, the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai be entrusted with the work of Manufacture and supply of Gold Medals, as per the specifications and conditions stipulated in the Government Orders cited  to the indenting Government Departments to be awarded to the eligible Drivers.

 5.  All the indenting officers of the Government Departments, are, therefore, requested to place necessary orders for the manufacture and supply of the required number of Gold Medals with the Managing Director, Tamil Nadu  Handicrafts Development Corporation, Chennai, after satisfying the required formalities.

6.  This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department, vide its U.O.No.1040/BPE/98,  dated 14.5.1998.
